Check out Gibbs Hot Wings’ new dishes
Lately, I have been pondering about home and how I’d love to return someday. Although my work is in Cebu, I’ve been feeling so homesick that I just want to drop everything and leave. Of course, I can’t do that now since I’m a.) married and b.) an adult. I have bills to pay and have to remember that life isn’t as happy-go-lucky as it was before.
Part of the reason why I want to go home is because I feel so alone here in Cebu. I know I have some friends here, but really; my family and best friends are in Bacolod. So whenever someone comes over to visit, I make it a point to meet them. True enough, my cousin paid me a visit a few weeks ago. He was set to board a ship for the next six months where he would be interning as a seaman. This was why I made sure to bring him to all the places he would miss while he was away.
One of those destinations was Gibbs Hot Wings, my ever trusted chicken wing place in Cebu. Coincidentally, Gibbs was offering two new dishes: the King Curry Wings and the Three Cheese Pesto Tuna. The owner, a good friend of ours, gave us a taste of his new offering:
Gibbs Hot Wings New Dishes
I was so looking forward to trying these new dishes since they were something different. When Coy first talked to me about these dishes, I beamed with excitement.
Three Cheese Pesto Tuna
The first dish was the Three Cheese Pesto Tuna. It’s a pasta dish so cheesy you’ll forget you were on a diet (if ever you were on one). The penne pasta is al dente and tossed with a decadent mix of cheese, pesto, and small chunks of tuna. It’s a dish you definitely need to savor with friends.
King Curry Chicken Wings
For good measure, take a look at this photo of Gibbs’ new chicken wings flavor.
And then take a good look at this dish from another angle.
And yes, here’s a third photo of the dish.
Did you like those photos? I know you would. They’re as good as they are stunning to look at. Gibbs has created a masterpiece with its new King Curry Wings flavor. Yes, its name pays homage to its chicken curry sauce– a taste that’s immensely familiar and will take you back to your mother’s cooking. But Gibbs has taken this old Filipino favorite dish into an entirely unique delicacy.
The fried chicken wings are bathed in a thick, creamy fusion of flavors with a taste of the familiar. On top, there’s a generous serving of grated cheese, whole corn kernels, and bell peppers.
Gibbs Hot Wings has done it again. Its ingenuity has led me to a dilemma of staying loyal to my ever favorite, the Angel Wings; or to declare the King Curry chicken wings as my new favorite.
Beyond the exquisite flavors bursting in my mouth, the feeling of homesickness diminished. A new realization crept slowly in: If ever I’d move back to Bacolod, Gibbs wouldn’t be there and it’s certainly something I’d miss.
For now, I succumb to my hunger and push away the thoughts of sadness while grabbing another chicken wing from the plate. Bacolod will have to wait, at least for now.
