Marco Polo Plaza Cebu: An Epitome of Hospitality Beyond Expectations
Marco Polo Plaza Cebu marked a huge milestone in our life as a wed couple. What originally started as a much deserved getaway to Malapascua ended in disappointment as the strong rain clouds of Marce traced its way through our intended path. We were celebrating our first anniversary as husband and wife, thus we needed to have a celebration for this special event. Given our positive experience before, we decided to check for any Marco Polo Cebu room rates promo for a staycation. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find any.
When we were checking in, the lobby of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu was a bit busy with all the preparations they were doing for the event that night. As it turns out, they lighting their Christmas tree and had some performers to take part in the momentous affair. We never knew it was such a huge event for the staff and guests but it apparently was.

Last time we stayed in the hotel, we were given a room with a Mountain View. For our anniversary, our room was upgraded to have a sea view instead of the mountains. A little after checking in, the doorbell to our room rang and my husband went to check it out. As a welcome gift, the staff delivered some fresh fruits to our room. It was very sweet of them.
Apart from the comfortable bed, I was really looking forward to their buttery sweet ensaymada, a treat I enjoyed most last time. I decided to pair it with a Malicious Cookie and had it warmed this time around. I ordered a cup of Cafe Latte to go with my cookie while the hubby ordered freshly brewed coffee. It surprisingly came in a stainless kettle, which could probably serve 3 or 4 people.
We went out for a date later in the evening, where the hubby decided to surprise me by making the reservations to a secret restaurant. He kept everything to himself because he knew that if he would give me a clue, I would know right away where it was.
When we got back to the hotel, I told hubby to ring housekeeping so we could have our empty cups and plates be taken away. To my surprise, I was greeted with another tray on the same spot where we left our dishes. It was so sweet of Marco Polo to remember our anniversary and give us this heartwarming treat!
Just like our experience last year, I was ecstatic that the entire Marco Polo staff remained true to its promise of providing quality customer service. We always enjoy spending our mornings indulging in Marco Polo Cebu buffet, which we believe is one of the best in the city. It was, indeed, a great decision to go to Marco Polo instead of staying home on our first anniversary.
To find out where the hubby took me for our first wedding anniversary dinner, stay tuned for the next post. 😉
